From page to squire in three days. How to become the best knight in Kilkenny. Join us at St Canice’s Cathedral for a unique three-day workshop where children will journey from page to squire to knight. Each knight will learn the history of our Cathedral’s noble warriors and just what it takes to become a knight.

Train like a knight: Our young knights will practice with toy longbows, crossbows, lances, and maces. Try on a replica Medieval helmet, gauntlets (gloves) and sabatons (shoes) and handle a replica sword based on William Marshall’s. Our knights will also receive a balloon sword to take home. Our knights will play medieval games designed for fun and to prepare pages for their future careers. Tug of war, marbles, tag, red rover, hammer (welly) toss are all games our knights will play as part of their training.

Knightly Crafts: Our knights will craft their own shields with a coat of arms they create themselves., The young knights will make their own helmet masks to prepare for battle. Every knight needs a valiant steed, and our knights will make their own foam hobby horse.

On the final day our knights will receive a certificate and have a special dubbing ceremony.
